Robert H. Miller, M.D., M.B.A.
A native of New Orleans, Robert H. Miller, M.D., M.B.A. attended Tulane
University for his undergraduate and medical school education. Following
completion of an otolaryngology – head and neck surgery residency
at UCLA in 1978, he joined the faculty at Baylor College of Medicine.
In 1987, he was appointed Chairman of the Department of Otolaryngology
– Head and Neck Surgery at Tulane. Dr. Miller received an M.B.A.
degree from Tulane in 1996, and was a Robert Wood Johnson Health Policy
Fellow from 1996 – 1997 during which he worked in the office of
Senator John Breaux. Dr. Miller focused on health issues including diabetes,
hospice care, colon cancer screening, and Medicare reform. He returned
to Tulane as Vice-Chancellor for Clinical Affairs following his Washington
sojourn. In 1999, he became the Dean of the University of Nevada School
of Medicine, a role he served until September, 2001. Dr. Miller has returned
to Houston where he is the Executive Director of the American Board of
Otolaryngology.
Dr. Miller serves on the editorial boards of the major US otolaryngology
journals, and has held or currently holds major leadership roles in numerous
otolaryngology and other medical organizations. He is a member of the
American College of Surgeons Health Policy Steering Committee and just
completed a six year term on the Robert Wood Johnson Clinical Scholars
Program National Advisory Committee. Dr. Miller was recently appointed to the Boys Town of America Board of Trustees. His research interests include medical
workforce and health policy.
